Pre-Purchase Building Inspections are performed for Home Buyers prior to the Purchase Contract becoming "unconditional".

This may be during a "cooling off period" of a Private Sale, prior to an Auction or more commonly during a time period nominated in the buyers “Special Conditions” clause on the Contract for Sale or Contract Note.
